My Skin Care Must-Haves

My Skin Care Must haves clarisonic colorescienceWhile I love trying new skin care and beauty products all the time there are 3 items in my repertoire that I call my “ride or die” items. These items are always in my rotation and I could not live without them.

1. Clarisonic Plus– This tool is really worth the investment. It uses sonic wave technology to get into every crevice and pore, leaving your skin feeling amazing. Rarely is there a day where I don’t use my Clarisonic. There are a few different Clarisonic Brush Types (Plus, Aria, Mia, act…) I have had an older Pro version for 3+ years and have not had any problems with it. I just replace the brush head every 2-3 months and it’s as good as new.

2. Colorescience Sunscreen Powder– Sun Damage is the number 1 cause of brown spots, wrinkles and skin cancer. Prevention really is the best medicine when it comes to your face. Practicing good sun protection is better than any night/wrinkle/anti-aging cream you can buy. I like to layer my sunscreens. I always start with an initial layer of sunscreen cream under my make-up. This brand will vary as I like to try different products. I apply a layer of Colorescience sunscreen powder over all of my make-up to “seal the deal”. Sunscreen protection tends to wear off after about 2-3 hours of wear, so any time I go outside or get in my car I try to reapply my sunscreen powder. It goes on colorless and does not affect your make-up. I have tubes of this stuff in my car, purse, baby bag, jogging stroller, office desk, etc…

3. Obaji Tretinion 0.05% Cream– Tretinoin, also known as Retin A, is known to be one of the most powerful topical anti-aging creams. It helps by exfoliating dead skin and it brings more blood supply to the deeper dermal layer of the skin, promoting new elastin and collagen formation. It also helps acne (score!). This product can be irritating, so I recommend starting with a lower strength of tretinion and working your way up. I find using a medium strength Tretinoin 3x/week works best for me. This is a prescription cream. Make an appointment with your Derm to see if this is an appropriate treatment for your skin.

Great tips, Erin! I just ordered the Colorescience Sunscreen Powder. This seems to be one of the very few products on the market that you can add on top of your existing makeup for a little added protection from the sun. Can’t wait to use it!

    Thanks for the recommendation!
